CHARRIOL - PETER PAN - EPHOR
The stud has been planning
on introducing jumping lines for some time & we
couldn`t have been more thrilled at finding
this wonderful mare. We bought Chariola Z
from Carron Nicol who owns the very succsessful
stud & jumping yard Rumer stud.
Chariola Z has a super pedigree which is filled by top jumping
bloodlines. Her sires side is dominated by the Holstein breed
which takes the monopoly in show jumping bloodlines. On the dams
side there are both Oldenburg & Trakaner. Chariola Z was
breed by no other than one of the most sucssesful breeder & stallion
owner in Germany today Paul Shockemohle!!!! Chariola Z ticks
ALL the boxes that Carriden Sports Horses seek when purchasing
a quality mare. This mare not only has an amazing jump but her
movement is exceptional. She also posseses stunning looks, a
lovly temperment & super comformation.
SIRE; Charriol (Carthago Z - Zuenftiger xx - Risotto)
Chariola`s sire is owned & competed by one of Britains most
up & coming young show jumping stars Ellen Whitaker. She
has competed him to a high level of show jumping where he has
had many wins. We are waiting to hear from Ellen so we can write
more about Charriol.
Charriol`s sire;
Carthago Z. This stallion needs no introduction. He is one of
the most successful show jumping stallions in the Holstein breed.
Carthago Z is the son of Capitol I, one of the great modern Holsteiner
showjumping sires. Unusually for a Holstein jumping sire, Capitol
carried no Cor de la Bryère blood, but he was richly endowed
with the heritage of two great Thoroughbred descendants of the
Bay Ronald line - Cottage Son xx and Manometer xx, he also carried
a double cross of the influential anglo-arab, RAMZES Capitol
I sired Cassini, Campione (and full brother, Cathleen, ridden
by Meredith Michaels - now Beerbaum), Calato Z, Curtis (Mändli),
Cliquot (Kirchof). With an index of 182 he head the FN young
jumping stallion ratings. Capitol’s grand dam Retina was
a Hamburg Jumping Derby with Fritz Thiedemann. His dam, Folia,
showed great jumping potential herself, and produced the licensed
stallions Latus I and II, as well as the two Capitols, and famous
daughters Kausa, Lektion (eventing) and U-Capitola (dam of Lord
Capitol).
Folia’s dam, Vase, was a full sister toRomanus who competed
with success with Hans Günter Winkler, despite the horse’s
aversion to water jumps.
The dam sire, Calando I stood at several breeding stations in
Holstein before pursuing a performance career that culminated
in a German Championship with Karsten Huck. After jumping successfully
in Luxembourg, Calando I returned to breeding duties in Holstein.
At
his performance test, Carthago Z earned a 9.5 for free jumping
and a 10 for jumping talent!!! Carthago Z finished in 11th
place at the Atlanta Games with Jos Lanskink and the pair
were members of the Dutch team at the Sydney Games. In all
the combination competed in 15 Nations Cups. In 2001, the
stallion, who had been leased to Leon Melchior since 1995,
returned to his birthplace in Schleswig-Holstein and the
Holsteiner Verband.
Carthago is already the sire of numerous approved sons and although
he is no longer fertile he continues to sire foals for a while,
thanks for the stock of frozen semen. He is retired on an island
in the North Sea, with a couple of mares for company.
His
progeny includes international showjumpers, such as Cim Christo
at the 2004 Olympics under the Korean Bong Gak Sohn, as well
as Kira III/Ludo Philippaerts/BEL, VDL Groep Spiga/Leopold
van Asten/NED, Caitano/Ulrich Kirchhoff, Campus/Steve Guerdat/SUI,
Cristallo/Alois PollmannSchweckhorst, Caya/Sheila Burke/USA,
K-Carrera/Michael Aabo/NOR, Charlottenhof’s Classix
Girl/Sören von Rönne, and Hofgut Liederbach’s
Cathleen/Pia-Luise Aufrecht.
Her
Dam; Chariola`s dam is the oldenburg mare Panja. This mare
is by the sought after stallion Peter Pan.
The
Oldenburg jumping phenomenon PETER PAN is more than one of
thirty offspring of the legendary Westphalian progenitor
Pilot (Pilatus) that are performing in the International
showjumping arena. Celebrities such as PS Priamos (Ludger
Beerbaum), Pirol V (Lesley McNaught), Showtime (Nick Skelton),
and Pialotta (Rolf-Goran Bengtsson) are all direct Pilot
descendants. PETER PAN was bred in East Germany at Paul Schockemohle's
stud farm "Lewitz". His dam, Gesthemane, is a product
of the classic combination Domino (Domspatz) and Gepard (Gotthard).
The line continues back to the Hanoverian mare Soraja II
Z (Furioso II x Senat), who has also been used for breeding
at the famous Belgian stud farm "Zangersheide".
In 1994 PETER PAN was most impressive during the free jumping
at the KWPN stallion selection, where he received his breeding
license. He then pursued an impressive showjumping career
under Neal Fearon, and then and then Alessia Marioni (seen
above), earning a series of victories in the International
arena. From PETER PAN's first seasons in the Netherlands,
several sons were licensed for breeding, including, Opan,
Obsession, and Olivier.
The
famous PILOT;
Pilot
was born in 1974 at the clinic of former FEI chief vet, Dr
Cronau, as his breeder, Christa Geldbach wanted her foal
to have the best right from the start.
At
his first foal show, little Pilot caused a sensation and
was recommended for stallion status. His breeder asked Kunibert
Munch, ( the owner of Pilatus ) , to prepare him for the
stallion licensing, and it was here that his difficult temperament
became apparent. Even today his progeny have strong difficult
characters.
Pilot was purchased by the Westfalien State Stud in 1977, and
sent to the breeding station at Sande where the local breeders
were not too keen to use him since his reputation for erratic
behaviour had proceeded him. There was no denying that he
was an elegant horse with great conformation, and he behaved
well enough at the performance test at Warendorf to finish
in 5th - and his foals were wonderful but the breeders in
the area still didn’t want him - but Warendorf director,
Dr Gerd Lehmann refused to budge, and the stallion stood
at Sande until 1988, and by then the breeders were queuing
for his services.
Pilot was the first show jumping stallion with progeny to earn
one million deutschmarks. By the end of 1999, Pilot progeny
had earned a staggering DM6,250,000 !!!!!!!!
the
dams dam Ethna is by the trakaner stallion Ephor.
